Your Price. When establishing a price for your classes, start by calling around and finding out what other choices your clients have. If you plan to offer cooking classes, call some commercial establishments and other in-home teachers. Compare your own talent and experience to what they’re offering, and set a price accordingly. You should always come in a little lower than classes offered by commercial establishments as that will be one of your selling points: expert information for less money.
If you’re going to have a garage sale, the only way for it to be successful is to be organized. Make sure you sort through your items carefully and label them with prices. Many people are too bashful to ask what the price of an item is, so if they are unsure, they might walk away. Also, check to see that everything you sell is clean, washed, and tidy. Clothes that are pressed and hung up on a line will sell much faster than a pile of clothes in a box. You should also advertise your sale with big, bright signs that have large letters and are easy to read. Also, place an ad on Craigslist.com with great pictures of your products. This will act as a “sneak peek” to those who love frequenting garage sales.
In the freelance writing gigs, it appears about.com is gone (gasp!) it links to a site called dotdash.com. I tried going to about.com myself to make sure it wasn’t a bad link and sure enough it took me to dotdash.com. In their careers section they are currently hiring some freelance (contract) tech writers but that was the only “freelance”/contract position(s) they have. Thought you’d like to know.
Start a photography business and sell your photos online. If you have a nice DSLR camera and take good photos, do photography sessions or take photos of events, like parties and weddings. As another option, create fine art photos that people may want to hang on their walls, or take stock photos to sell online on sites like iStock Photo, Shutterstock, or Alamy.
